RNIIIS at the United Nations (2024)
On July 11, 2024, at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) (Geneva, Switzerland), as part of the 65th series of meetings of the WIPO Assembly (July 9-17, 2024, more than 1,400 participants), the annual traditional consultative meeting of the Director General of WIPO, Mr. Daren Tang, took place in the WIPO Partnership Dialogue with executives and experts 50 non-governmental organizations from around the world on intellectual property issues for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

On June 24, 2024, the 14th package of EU sanctions entered into force, including new discriminatory measures in the field of intellectual property.
Previously, the application of the sanctions regime assumed that the European Patent Office (EPO), the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the national intellectual property (IP) offices of the EU countries "freeze" all categories of patent applications from Russian individuals and legal entities that are included in the sanction’s lists, and organizations controlled by them from the moment of their inclusion to these lists.
On the outcomes of the XV International Forum "Innovative Development through the Intellectual Property Market"
On April 23, 2024, as part of the International Intellectual Property Days dedicated to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the XV anniversary International Forum "Innovative Development through the Intellectual Property Market" was held in Moscow (on the basis of the Kutafin Moscow State University) with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Rossotrudnichestvo.
The Eighth BRICS Legal Forum and intellectual property
On December 8-9, 2023, the Eighth BRICS Legal Forum was held in South Africa with the participation of delegations from all five BRICS member countries led by the heads of the legal communities of these countries (from Brazil - Bruno Barata, from India – Prashant Kumar, from China – Zhang Mingqi, from South Africa – Eunice Masipa. The Russian delegation (10 people) was headed at the Forum by the Chairman of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, Doctor of Law Sergey Stepashin.

On July 10, 2023, at the headquarters of WIPO (Geneva, Switzerland), as part of the 64th series of meetings of the WIPO Assembly (July 6-14, 2023), a consultative meeting of the Director General of WIPO, Mr. Daren Tang, with the heads and experts of more than 50 non-governmental organizations from around the world on intellectual property issues for sustainable development was held UN. Vladimir Lopatin, Scientific Director of the RNIIIS (the only specialized non-profit non-governmental organization on intellectual property issues in the post-Soviet space), took part in the meeting on behalf of Russia and other countries of the EAEU and the CIS, who is a UN expert (since 2019).

On July 04, 2023, a regular meeting of the Commission of the Association of Lawyers of Russia on Intellectual Property (in person, including online participation format) was held at the site of the Eurasian Patent Organization of the organization, chaired by the Chairman of the Commission, the Scientific Director of the RNIIIS V.N. Lopatin, with the participation of the President of the Eurasian Patent Office, member of the Commission G.P. Ivliev; invited head Federal Service for Intellectual Property Yu.S. Zubov; Director of FSBI FIPS O.P. Neretin; Director of FSBI FAPRID S.Y. Fabrichny.

On May 11-13, 2023, the XI St. Petersburg International Legal Forum was held in St. Petersburg (organizers: the Ministry of Justice of Russia and the Roscongress Foundation in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 55 of 02/15/2022), at the venues of which 130 events were held in Expoforum with the participation of more than 3 thousand lawyers from 46 countries of the World, including the International Youth Legal Forum, the international conference of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, the conference "Russian Legislation: forecasts, projects, programs (for the 100th anniversary of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation), an open meeting of justice ministers of 20 countries and a plenary session "Sovereignty in Law".
AYUR Commission on Intellectual Property
On January 30, 2023, at a joint meeting of the Presidium and the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, chaired by the Chairman of the AYUR S.V.Stepashin, a decision was unanimously made to establish the Commission of the Association of Lawyers of Russia on Intellectual Property.
Vladimir Nikolaevich Lopatin, Scientific Supervisor (Director) of the Russian Research Institute, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, was appointed Chairman of the Commission. In his speech, V.N. Lopatin briefly presented the main tasks of the Commission within the framework of improving legislation and centralizing the functions of state regulation in the field of intellectual property, developing legal culture and legal support for the development of the Eurasian intellectual property market as a key condition for technological sovereignty and national competitiveness in the transition to a multipolar World.
